The only likely reason gear oil would be present at that spot is if it is over full. Differential level can be checked by opening the plug on the side of the pumpkin. The level should be even with the hole.
Your leak is probably brake fluid from the tee, the lines, or the flex hose. All of this should be inspected and repaired/replaced.
