Re: IML: '62 Custom vs. Crown

My custom's panels have a very cool 60's futuristic broqueade fabric all the way to the edges of the arm rests, then the hide of nauga takes over from the arm rests all the way to the windows.
I don't have any aluminum panels, but I do have neat chrome trim pieces and those nifty crowns though.

Hola David

If you or any other person would like to have a copy of the 1962 or 1963 Dealers Brochure Page that shows this item, I'll copy it and sent ya one so that you may see for yourself. To me, the 1963 brochure shows the inside panels much better. Also I only have the regular size brochures.

Accourding to the brochure, the panels are covered in an material that is the same as the seats and equal to what the car is. That is what others may say is an blue door panel with blue seats in the Custom design with an Custom interior.

I hope this anwser has not made "mud" of the door panels in front of you.

I've seen several versions of the door panels. The two 4 door Crowns I have both had aluminum panel inserts with script Crown on the front ones. There was also a curved chrome strip above the aluminum panel and a straight chrome strip at the top of the carpet at the bottom of the door panel. I picked up another set recently and I think they are from a Custom. They have the aluminum panel inserts with a Crown on all 4, along with the curved chrome piece above the insert, but no straight chrome strip for the bottom. I've also seen door panels without the aluminum panel inserts.

Was there a set trim type or could you get whatever you wanted? Just curious.
