Our (Chrysler engineers) rule of thumb was any pressure at
idle is enough.
At 60 MPH you should get at least 40 psi. On my 1968 Dodge
Charger I had to go to 50 weight oil to get 40 psi at 60 MPH on a 90 degree day.
With 30 weight oil I only got 20 psi at 60 MPH. That didn't hurt the motor but
it worried me.
If oil is being thrown out the breather you have high
crankcase pressure from piston ring "blowby" or inadequate crankcase
ventilation.
