After a 2100 mile journey, (I got lost) I have my 1965 "arrive and
drive" home tonight resting in the garage. I've been driving this car
since about 5:00 or 6:00 yesterday afternoon and it's 11:16 p.m. tonight.
I was beginning to think we were glued together, but it was fun. Believe
it or not, the brochures and the road test magazines were right. I only
feel tired from lack of sleep, not from the driving. It would be a great
cross-country car, and since I drove through 7 states non-stop ((New Mexico,
Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee (that's when I knew something was wrong), back to
Arkansas, Missouri, and finally Illinois)), I wouldn't hesitate to drive it any
distance. The only costs were, 1) new tires that I bought from the get-go
and 2) new belts I had to have put on in West Memphis, Arkansas. I really
only had to have one of the alternator belts, but just had them replace them all
because they were aging. PLUS, it averaged 16.67 MPG on the highway.
I always thought it was my dream car, but, after this experience, it IS my dream
car.
Anyway, two questions. The brochure says that the passenger side
outside mirror is remote controlled. Where's the control? I looked
and couldn't find it, so did it trial and error by hand.
Second. My car has AM/FM. I can get AM stations till the cows
come home, but can't get any FM. Any suggestions?
