That is right Paul, These gauges are very hard to find, and it is even harder to find them with matching colors. In 1960 black and grey dials were used for e.g. You will be a very happy fellow when you have all dials and rings working and if they have all the same color too :) Me? I am almost very happy, cause one ring saying "accessory" is black while all the other dials are grey... Oh, and the luminescent ring around the ignition switch isn't working (you know, that transparant ring). So if anyone out there can make me a very happy guy... With regard the solid state voltage regulator that Tom is selling, they work like a charm! Providing a rocksteady voltage of 5V (with an accurency of 0,005V, if our old fashioned gauges will ever be able to notice this tolerance:), you can draw as much as 8 Amp. from them!! Cool it well, use the case of your gauge as the heatsink and it will serve you forever! Since 5 Volt is a little too low for our gauges, you should lift the voltage a little by adding two sillicon rectifiers (1N4004 for e.g.) to the ground path of the limiter. It will deliver then 6 Volt. I have made this upgrade last summer and never had any problems with my gauges again.
