On the topic of push button transmissions, I have a 59
Crown 4 door S in which I am rebuilding the engine. I have not been able to
drive it yet. The trans push buttons on the dash do not look right. I think
reverse is sticking out and all the others are depressed. Or maybe it is two
buttons are sticking out. Is there any way to test the push button control
without running the engine. I assume it is a mechanical linkage. Is
this something that can be repaired or should I start looking for a replacement
or the entire push button transmission.
I just wanted to take a moment to thank the many well
informed people that contribute to this site, it is one of the best
classic car forums on the internet, the 356 Porsche site being the other.

64s have a different instrument cluster, dash panels and decor
are different. So is the radio. The cables to operate the trans would have to
be different. It would be easier to buy a 64. Geoff Simpson

why make it a push button you should look at a tilting and
teliscoping steering wheel if it dosent have one and I think that the
transmission is the same the 65 has the shift cable just like the 64 so it
should work----- Original Message ----- From: John Birkhead
