I've done this a few times & it depends on a few things such as how rusty
things might be underneath the car.It also depends on how the exhaust is
routed. If the pipes are real close to the center, you may have trouble
removing the bolts on the center support hanger. One thing to also keep in
mind is that the convertable uses a different hanger then the hardtop if you
need to replace that. I don't think I would attempt this on the side of the
road, certainly not when its so cold now. You'll need to raise the car & you
can end up getting pinned under it, $300 is probably a small price to pay to
ensure your safety. If only the hanger is separated from the rubber, you
could probably drive for such a short distance. I had one do this on a 64 &
lived with it a while till I found time to fix it. I also had one separate on
my 60 on the way home from Vermont & I drove it back to RI without trouble,
you just need to accellerate easy, it smooths out once up to speed.
