If done sparingly, clear silicone can be trimmed with a
razor once dry.  one could use a very fine x-acto knife and
trim any excess that overflows.  I would also use it on the
washer-faces of the nuts that hold the trim on so that
water does not go through the trim-mounting holes.  The
factory used a putty-like substance....
