73 Steering Linkage



Tony,
  I recently went through the impossible to find Idler arm dilemma, I
finally got one from a parts car,since NOS ones are very expensive,and
getting one rebuilt takes several weeks, while hunting for a replacement
idler arm, I was told that the only difference in the idler arms between the
Imperials and same year " lesser" Chryslers is the length- the "lesser"cars
are .500 inch shorter than the Imperial's,so in theory at least the shorter
arm would bolt in,but would leave the linkage/tie rods at a funny angle.
Possibly this is what is wrong with your car, you may have had the incorrect
"lesser" Chrysler idler arm installed by someone trying to "cheap" the car.
The Chrysler part # for the fuselage cars is 2835853 ( I've got it memorized
from the exhaustive search ) If it would help I still have the "old" arm
from my car (going to have it rebuilt someday) If you'd like me to measure
it's length,contact me off-list.
