Yes Tony;
Genie has a bad ground on the turn signal socket.
The socket should be connected to the car body on one side but the
metal under the spade connector, or whatever it has, has to be clean. It sounds
like you have found your problem anyhow but check the continuity of the ground
wire as well since it might be broken internally.
