galloping 440

Me too, I tried different holleys, mono and double pumpers - and gave up.
Stalling, galloping and CONSUMING.

Now I use a edelbrock 650 electric choke - the engine has high torque and
low rpm - and everything starts, idles, drives, speeds, brakes absolutely
perfect. Cant be better.

The best long term solution is replace the carb with a carter. These
carburetors had problems even when the cars were new. According to the 68
Owners Report published in April of 68, the second most repeating mechanical
problem with these cars (after the climate control) was the carburetors.
When
these problems occurred the cars were less than a year old!
D^2, 2x68s, one with a Carter AVS and the other with a Rochester and the
original Holley in the trunk. The Rochester still has occasionally sticky
float valve.
