Thanks Kerry. This weekend I will attempt to fix it. Another gentleman, Kerry Wills in SF sent me the following info which I will also try: Squat and look through the grille and upwards in the center. There is a 2" manual paddle pointing down from the hood latch. A long screw-driver is all that's needed to manually pop the hood.
