I have owned 4 of the '81-82 coupes, and inspected many more. I have never
seen a hood crystal with this mark. I also have the showroom brochures for
both years, and both feature the hood ornament prominently on either the
front or rear outer cover. The pictures are very large and clear, and do
not show the "CARTIER" mark, and they definitely would if it were there.
The picture in the ebaY ad is beautiful, and certainly looks fitting for one
of these beautiful cars, but I don't think it came from a production car.
It might have been made for a show car, or might fit some other year (I
can't imagine which). Our friend Frank obviously knows what it is - and
thinks it's worth beaucoup bucks. I suspect we will see this one again.
I'd love to hear what Bob Harris, Bob Baker, and Bill Watson have to say
about this. (3 B's?)
