RE: [-Possible SPAM-] IML: It's bite the bullet time

 Bob,

I just went out and looked, and very much to my surprise there are NO
holes in the back of either head!!! I had to take the smog tube out to get
to the top trany bolts and there is a flange that bolts flush to each head
WITH a gasket on each flange. I never looked at the back of the heads even
though it has been sitting on an engine stand for the past 9 months. Now
I'm that I know the heads don't have the smog holes I'll just plumb the smog
pump straight down to the converter, with of course all of the right parts.
This will make life a little easier when/if I have to get it inspected. I
am going to try and get the 360/727 put together next weekend and installed
the following week. That's if I don't convert over to the newer 5.9L magnum
heads, intake and serpentine belt system.

Dave -

After reading your post, I just had to reply. I removed the engine piping on
the back of the heads of my 318 EFI Imperial several years ago. These pipes
are not stainless and very likely to rust out. The big surprise to me to me
was that there "were no air openings in the rear of the heads!!!"
I was flabbergasted! I have had that car inspected every year and had no
hose nor that pipe installed and the car runs fine when cold and easily
passes the ever increasing requirements of the local laws. Take a look at
yours and see what you have, we'd all be interested in your reply...
