Smog tubes on my 83

Oh boy, you guys are making my day!!

I went and had those tubes replaced with new ones
about 10 years ago, because the driver's side one 
was rotted and you could hear the noise inside.  I 
tried to do it myself but couldn't get the bolts loose.

Hmmm.  I will be pissed if I wasted my money, BUT
those new tubes are rusting near the firewall already
and I could just leave them off.

And yes, they DID have gaskets on them.

I will definitely let you guys know what I find.

According to that book, they added air injection mounting 
areas to the exhaust in 73.  (Doesn't mean they used
them I guess.)
 
So far the alternator, air pump, power steering
and the belts are off.

And yes Dick, I didn't remove the P/S hoses and thanx
for letting me know about the A/C compressor.

Now out to the garage I go . . .
