Two headed monsters (was: Smog tubes on my 83)

If you heard exhaust noise from the rotted tube, there must have been some
opening to the exhaust gasses. I wish I could recall whether or not I
specifically looked at the backs of my heads in 96 or so when I rebuilt my
engine, but I just cannot. I was surprised at the thin metal and the black
shiny paint on these tubes, but I assumed they did not have to contend with
the full force and temperature of the exhaust stream - I assumed they merely
conducted the air stream form the A-I-R pump down to the cat. I'll be
waiting for your results.
