Title: '66 Imperial Air Cleaner Decal insert &  Restoration

Gang: Time to chime in. My '66 Coupe has the tin insert glued to the top of the air cleaner, as well as remnants of the foil stickers on the valve covers. It even has the yellow sticker, but alas that was painted over in the repaint by some previous owner.

Mike T: Thanks for the tip on foil inkjet paper. The repro stickers go for about $60 a set and this will save me a ton!!

Rob--my '66 has exactly what you describe below. My question to the group is this: my tin 'insert' has come unglued from the air cleaner. What should I use to clean the old glue off the air cleaner lid and the underside of the tin insert? The sticker on the insert is pretty tired, so I'm not concerned about saving it; I'll just replace it using Mike's terrific idea!

I don't have a way to photo it, but it looks like the pie pan style. Instead
of the wing nut holding it on, it is just an aluminum
band with "IMPERIAL" script on it that is glued to air cleaner. Same script
as "pie pan" style. Rob

I guess I started this whole question privately, when I put up the following
page on the club's website:

I wanted to make sure that these would be the right ones for my bro-in-law's
'65 convertible.  Can you tell me whether that looks right, and whether it's
also correct for 1966 (just for the sake of info. on the website)?

Also, anyone who has access to inkjet silver-foil paper (can be ordered on
the internet for $1.50 per sheet, enough for 5 stickers), can print your own
stickers using the artwork found on this page.  I spray mine with a coat of
clear urethane to keep them from deteriorating.  If you have a good printer
(like a photo printer), believe it or not, they look fabulous!
