IML DIGEST rebuilding 440 in 1968 Crown

You are welcome Paul. With big block mopars, about the worst that happens
is the timing gets really messed up and it runs like crap. If there is a
catastrophic failure and it slips a tooth it might quit running. On some
brand X cars (mainly imports but I know it happened to an Olds 350 once) the
valve train can actually contact the piston if they get out of sync due to a
timing chain problem. Can you say EXPENSIVE!

easily replaced as I have done it on two of my brand "X" cars myself. I just
hadn't heard anything about this for a long time. Back in the late '70s this
problem took many of our cars off the road for good, since even though it
was an easy repair, at that time our cars weren't worth the $500.00 repair
bill it would have taken to fix them, so many were junked.
