'56 Wheel Bearings

Another question that came up during my visit to the alignment shop this 
morning:

What are the correct front wheel bearings for a '56 Sedan?
I'm not sure whether the OEM bearings were roller or ball but I know that 
what is currently installed - and what I want to use as replacements - are 
tapered roller bearings.

Obviously given the age of the car, if I don't go into the parts store armed 
with a manufacturer and P/N my chances of getting the correct bearings are 
slim to none.
