Dads 82 Speed control not working

Larry,

I replaced the heated window switch in my 81 Imp because the LED had a
broken lead, so did my amp switch. I found a good one in a salvage yard
when I lived in New Mexico. Now that I live in Michigan I don't know what's
available as there is still too much snow on the ground to go hunting thru
my local salvage yards. Anyway if you go out looking for one check the
following cars, they used the same switch. From 1979 & up: Dodge St. Regis,
Chrysler New Yorker, Plymouth model unknown and 1980 & up Dodge Mirada and
Chrysler Cordoba. Also, Chrysler used the same basic amp switch I have
found in all "M" cars as well as most early "K" car and it's derivatives
thru 1989. The faceplate may look different but the switch is the same.
All you have to do if you find one that works is un-snap it and swap out
your inop switch with the working one. For anyone else out there with a
power moon roof, the above-mentioned cars also used the same switch although
I haven't found any in a "K" car.

Dick you hit it on the head. I tested the Speed control Switch and found a
open between Yellow and Brown with Red tracer. After exercising the switch
the contacts closed. When the switch was moved to the on position, like it
should have. The test is a 7step test the rest of the steps tested OK. The
stop lamp and speed control switch tested good also. The speed unit holding
coil test, the coil is working. The next test is to raise rear wheels and
drive them to 35 M.P.H. I think I will go for a test drive, I can see
myself explaining to my wife how the car got in the back yard, and the whole
in the garage wall. HA Ha

The next thing I will look at is the heated rear window; the LED on the
switch doesn't seam to be working? Do you have some thoughts on this?
