I remember purchasing my first set of tires in 1970
for my 1966 Fury that I still own. These tires were
the then new letter designations (this set was
Goodyear F-70 14 wide tread polyglas ,and by the way
is still on the car)...I recall the designation was
new then so it is safe to say 1969-70 was the time
slot of changing from the old numeric to the new
letter method of sizing tires.
