'67 hubcap annoyances...

-Thanks for all the responses. I plan to experiment with the suggestions so
far, but perhaps "you" were right when you said "More than likely, the noise
occurs because the poor things are old."

-To answer some questions:

1. Yes, I do have Radial tires.
2. Specifically, and currently the left front and the right rear. Strangely,
I almost never hear a peep out of the opposites.
2a. Yes and No, I have switched them around to see if the cause was L/R/F/B
placement.
3. I also am a "windows-down" driver, weather permitting (Bay Area -
California).

I have driven several 1968 Imperials since 1989, and I can't remember having
squeaky wheel covers, with bias or radial tires.  Is your problem with just
one cover, or with them all?

Our 67 had the same problem. We took the hubcaps apart & cleaned painted
them. When we put them back together we coated the underside of each part
with clear silicone. We also put silicone on all the threads as we
reassembled them. this stopped all the noises, but we still had trouble with
them coming off. We got some covers for an 80's imperial from a recycle yard
for everyday driving, and just put the originals on for special events.
