Yes they did. Everything (cars) had them from 81-up. I had an 81 Mirada, - probably the worst running car I ever owned. Decent gas milage though, - no wonder, that "Lean Burn" system was exactly that! Never did get it ro really run right, - and even my wife could not wear it out. When I bought it, it had a little under 50K, two years later, it had 150 (she had already worn-out several cars before she started driving the Mirada, - she had a long trek to work). I am now driving the last vehicle she attempted to wear out, an 89 Dodge Dakota truck, - 186K at the moment. No way she could have worn that one out though, - it does not have enough power to wear anything out (3.9 V6, - gas-sucking gutless wonder, and a true *waste* of the 318 engine). Just my opinion of course, - but then I am the one driving it....................... She is currently working on wearing out her present ride, - 95 Jeep grand Cherokee. 205K and counting............ I had one a few years back and it had them. My 81 Imperial also has them and they have to be restrictive. I will probably convert the exhaust to a quiet dual exhaust with dual cats. Do you know what the exact difference is, and how it effects fit? I don't see why the exhaust system from any F/M/J shouldn't fit an 81-83 Imperial. If your car is no longer injected, and you wish to improve the abysmal exhaust system, you might consider exhaust manifolds from the Magnum series (92-03) of Chrysler small-blocks. Much better flow without the drawbacks of headers. However, I'm not sure if any of these truck applications will fit F/M/J's. Might be a good tech question for the Mopar Action website, I'm sure I'm not the first person to think of this. For those who don't know...
