Quoting Rob P <fristpenny@xxxxxxxxxxx>: > I meant to ask whether you thought the TNT was the same as a regular 440 or > that this car didn't have a TNT. I don't think that engine was a TNT, it probably got a sticker at one point. > I think the exhaust manifolds are supposed > to be a fairly significant difference, but I'm biased because I have a Super > Commando 440 in my 'cuda. I probably learn more here to help with that care Rob, its hard to tell with certainty unless you have a good dyno testing. But the stock manifolds were fairly decent, and if the "HP" make any difference, it probably will be at over 5,000 rpm. Still, the Jensen Interceptors with the 440 six pack for example had the standard manifold (probably due to fit issues) and did very fine at high rpm, their top speed being at 5500 rpm on 3rd at 145 mph. Personally, I think the high rise exhaust manifolds were more of a gimic to sell muscle cars, as the stock manifold still has the upward tilt. They may also help replacing spark plugs, which is a non-trivial advantage. Somebody in the list had installed these manifolds in his 67 as I recall. May be he can give us a report. But even then, the its hard to separate phsychological effect from the real. Only a dyno number of "before" and "after" will tell for sure. D^2
