In an emergency, this will work (for a while), but sooner or later you are
going to have to deal with the rotten place in the core, whether it is the
radiator or the heater core.   The stop leak chemicals will also clog up
small passages in your cooling system, if they are used repetitively.   I'll
confess to having done this a few times myself (and yes, I carry a package
of the powdered aluminum stuff in my tool box whenever I travel), but only
to get home to where I can address the real problem.

Has anybody tried cooling system stop leak? In my experiences the powdered
alumenum type has always worked well. Even on a radiator with a plastic
tank! But I have never had a leaking heater core.
