Hey Tim,
Be sure to check the flexible rubber fuel line between the fuel pump and the
frame.  If it has a leak, it may not leak fuel out, but it will prevent the
fuel pump from getting a good suction on the fuel from the tank.  And, it can
be an intermitant problem as the line flexes with the slight engine movement
on the motor mounts.
