1) NOS means "new old stock" and strictly speaking this means it was sold
through the auto
manufacturer's parts department (Mopar, Ford, etc.) NOS Mopar parts should come
in a Mopar
box. Aftermarket replacement parts, like a Wagner brake hose for example, are
NORS which
stands for "new old replacement stock". There are guys out there selling NORS
as NOS who
should know better...
2) In my experience there is no upholstery or paint code information on US built
55 or 56 Mopar
bodies. The tag on the top centre of the firewall says "Chrysler Corp, Detroit
Mich" and shows
a body style code and body number only. If you have a US 55-56 parts books you
will notice
that interior soft parts (seat covers, etc) are not listed. Trim items were
ordered by
description.
Canadian built cars have a tag on the passenger side firewall that shows
body style, body
number, paint code and trim code. The Canadian parts book lists soft parts by
trim code but,
unfortunately, these codes don't apply to US cars because Canadian interiors are
different.
