IMO ->59 Dodge Kingsways and ->61 DeSoto Diplomats were made in Detroit,
Michigan, USA for foreign markets, not in Canada. Am I right? Through
1959 they were marketed by Chrysler Corporation Export Division, Detroit,
Michigan, USA/Chrysler Western Hemisphere Co., Panama R.P. and 1960-61
Diplomats were marketed as other Mopars by Chrysler International S.A.
(Geneva, Switzerland). I think, it's an ordinary mistake, that people
thought they were made in Canada.

There was a basic model Diplomat also, mere Diplomat. Then came Diplomat
DeLuxe and Diplomat Custom. 1955-56 Diplomats were Plymouths with different
grille & trim. 1957-59 Diplomats used Plymouth body with DeSoto Firesweep
front end. 1960-61 Diplomats were actually Dodge Darts.
1955-59 Dodge Kingsways used Plymouth body with Dodge Coronet front end.
When these cars were new, they were more usual than "senior" DeSotos and
Dodges in Finland. There are few of them still on the road. Most of them
are 4-Dr. sedans. I know some Diplomat Wagons, also one 1957 Diplomat
Convertible.
