All,
I don't know about the ford sending unit (I hope it's true) but a ford
sending unit float is the exact same one used on the '58s and others that
use it. It is the brass one. Probably made from the same dies used by
Autolite. So if your float has a hole in it, you can get one from a ford
tank.
Ford also has the nylon fuel inlet screen (filter) that goes on the sending
unit inlet pipe. Take yours in to get the right size. The only difference
is that it is black instead of white. If yours has had several layers of
crud in it, it's not worth cleaning.
