If we look at the advertising going on you find that most of the Mopar line is never mentioned at all, so don't be suprised at the demise of any paticular line of Dodge/Jeep in the future. I had the missfortune to try to locate a vehicle for a local volunter fire dept. and being a die hard Dodge boy I was set to get that type subframe for out brush rig. It only took two phone calls to find out the reason that all new ambulances, cop cars, and small firetrucks are Ford, Chrysler has no vehicle that will fit into these slots and they don't care. After my two calls, one to local rep and second to Chrysler Corp., I came away with the attitude that my own next personal vehicle will probably be another brand as well. They don't seem to care about any of the smaller segments of the population, and what they want. A good example is the new Durango line, and yes I bought one, the only made it when Ford and GM had forced them into it by taking a big segment of their former Ramcharger customers that didn't want a FWD minivan or a under sized Cherokee. Damiler got the jeep and and that is all they wanted other than the sales system of Chrysler. I would not be supprised at all to see nothing left within 5 years except old Daimler/Chrysler signs with the Chrysler painted out. Besides the company now is not the one that made my 58, there main line is fwd cars and small buggies. Jim |
