At AACA shows one can run into the problem that judges have generalized
expectations of industry standard practices. Tire valve stem caps would be
an example as I think the auto industry was in transition from metal caps to
less expensive plastic/vinyl/rubber in the 'mid-50s some time. It takes
magnifying glasses and factory photos to know.
I had problems with AACA judges regarding a Terraplane I owned years ago and
Hudson Motor Co. was not often doing things like the "big boys". But the
judges usually asked (they are told to ask the owner) for printed
documentation and I either had it, or gave adequate verbal explanations.
The car got the firsts it deserved.

Remember loosing at an AACA meet some years ago because my 55 had plastic
valve stem covers instead of the correct metal. Never have known for sure
if that is correct but still use plastic as a rule.
