James, I suppose it could be rebuilt to get more power. Call a local auto electric shop. They will be able to tell you if it can be done. Also, you will probably have to change the regulator. I have checked my parts books, from 1958 to 1963, and found a 2098 083 in the 1962 lists. The 2098 083 was a "non-serviced production generator" number and referred to 2098 082, which was a 35-Amp generator used on the 1962 Plymouth 361-cid V8, Dodge Dart 361-cid V8 and Valiant 6 (170 & 225). It was stamped "GJM-7005-51". (The Canadian-built 1960-1962 Valiant had a generator as standard, with the alternator optional in 1961-62.) Any thoughts about rebuilding it to put out an increased Amp output? I want to add a stereo unit and some have mentioned that upping the Amp output of my original generator would do the trick. Are there any other electrical considerations when taking such a step? How far can you take it?? Can it be done??? Also, the part number on my Generator is "2098083". I don't see this in my parts book. Any idea of its application? It is a "Chrysler of Canada" tag. Thanks! James 1959 Dodge
