All I have the opportunity to acquire a torque flite trans from a '58 Imperial. Can anyone out there tell me how to convert a water cooled torque flite transmission into an air cooled torque flite transmission. I was told to change the torque converter to the finned (air cooled) type, use the air cooled bell housing and disconnect the water lines from the radiator. I guess I would have to change the radiator or plug the hose lines. I always thought that the water ran through the trans somehow. (As you can tell, I never had a car with a water cooled trans.) What do you people think? I have no idea. All suggestions are gratefully accepted. Thanks in advance. John Paxos |
