Hi gang - When removing the rear brake dust shields (backing plates), I noticed that there were one or two shims between the rear axle and the dust shields. On one of my cars, there were two; on the other there was just one. Now I'm not sure which is which. How do you determine how many shims to put in this location ? The shims have five holes in them for the bolts, are 4 1/2 " wide and are circular except one side is flat. The parts book indicates that there are three thicknesses. What happens if you leave a shim out, or put too many on one side ? Thanks, Ron |
