Except that the 396 was offered only in 1968, and the latter half only.
The big Chevrolet engine was a 454.
All 1968-1971 Acadians were built at Willow Run, Michigan, not Oshawa,
Ontario.
And Chrysler's American export plant was on Wyoming Avenue in Detroit, which
built Plymouths, Dodges, Chryslers, and even a few Imperials, for export.
The Windsor plant did produce Valiant. Plymouth, and Dodge cars for export
as well. The production of RHD vehicles at Windsor came to end with the
introduction of the 1967 models, when the Australian operation became the
source RHD vehicles for the Commonwealth. Chrysler Canada did continue to
supply Australia with Plymouth Fury bodies, etc. for the Australian Dodge
Phoenix until the Windsor plant shifted to A-body production in November
1969.
The Plymouth plant on Lynch Road built only B-body cars from 1962 through
1978, then R-bodies (a rework of the B-body) through 1981, when the plant
was closed. And that includes my 1978 Dodge Monaco Brougham 2-door.
Too bad your uncle did not hang onto the Acadian. That was the last year
they built the Nova-based Acadian as it was replaced by the Pontiac Ventura
II, introduced in mid-year 1971.

Now, I am not sure how the Mopar factories were set up but here's a little
not urban myth story for you. My uncle worked for G.M. Canada for a number
of years. The employees often took advantage of buying cars direct from the
factory. Now, if you had friends in the right places there were some tricks
to be pulled. G.M. had a special area that repaired major assembly line
gaffs that couldn't be fixed "on line". So my uncle ordered a 1971 4 dr
Acadian ( a Canadian Pontiac version of the Nova). He ordered it with a
Power Glide and standard V-8 (307). But it "accidently " got a 6 installed
in the assembly line so it had to go to the repair area. Most guys used
this trick to get a 350, or free a/c or upgraded stereo. He decided a 455
and turbo 400 were more appropriate. In 1971 G.M. had stopped putting big
blocks in the Nova, but they used mounts etc from the earlier models. As
far as G.M. records show and the build records,! the car left the factory
with a base V-8 and automatic, not the upgraded engine that actually went
out in the car. I had a little run in the car when I was young and it was
snappy, though he seemed more tickled with his free A/C. DOn't know what
ever became of the car, but he said there was a small number of the big
block cars made like this. I don't know how the accounted for the missing
engines. Perhaps someone knows if that type of midnight shift stuff was
possible at the mopar factories. Given that the Plymouth cars were the
designate export factories, there was likely a lot of custom building to
suit overseas needs.
