I've been biting my "tongue", about this thread, but my fingers still work. Ebay is a TIMED bidding event, NOT an auction, where final "fair value, last call" is observed, before the bidding is closed. There are principally only 2 reasons to bid "early" @ Ebay: 1) to drive-up the 'final' price, to ensure that the final-bidder pays at-least a fair-market-price, for the item (this is usually a vindictive reason--"I don't really want 'this' item, but I wanna make sure that 'you' don't get-it, cheaply ! ) 2) You're not gonna be 'around/available' @ the end of the time-limit, so you place a "very" high bid, "early", & hope that no one out-bids you, @ the very-end. This technique can get expensive, but it @ least ensures that you get a bid in , before Ebay's site might 'crash' on you, at the 'end'. I see NOTHING immoral or unethical about bidding @ the very-end of Ebay's timed-events. I DO see unethicalness in merely bidding-up on an "auction", early, (& usually-only one-time) in order to increase the 'final' selling-price. And I REALLY see unethicalness in directly-contacting a seller, to try to induce 'him' to remove his site, in order to sell his item directly to "me" !! I feel much better, now.
