Re: [FWDLK] Plymouth Headliner

I have been working on this project for 3 years now, and by coincidence, was in a plastic coating plant just today, where I left a sample of a brittle piece of chrome headliner centre strip. It seems that there may be a new process available now for putting the chrome on the back of the extruded clear plastic strip.
This may put us all a little closer to being able to have these reproduced finally.
Will keep you all posted if anything positive develops out of this new process. (I am only interested in producing these if they are 'assembly line' correct).
And anyone who has not given me their name in the past as a potential buyer of the strips, please do so now, so that the cost of the production can be shared amongst a greater number of people, meaning cheaper strips.

Hello All;

Has anyone on this list been able to find anyone on this entire planet of ours that has or makes the plastic strips that hold up the cardboard headliner in the 58 Plymouths? I remember some people were looking into the cost of recreating them; however, I assume it was too expensive, as they were trying to make them "original" looking. At this point, I could care less if they were pink with green stripes, just as long as they hold the headliner up. I hate to resort to using duct tape, but all the foam is falling down now and the car looks terrible! I have had varying opinions that the strips from a Caravan, a late 70's Dodge van, early wagons and other makes have the strips that will fit; however, I guess I have not found the right model. I am curious to know when a person advertises a "restored" 58, just how in the world! they are getting around this mysterious headliner thing? Does anyone have any for sale? Thoughts??????
