Hi Bill, I have shipped several bumpers via UPS. The cut-off weight is 75lbs. Not sure about how heavy yours would be. AVOID the UPS stores. They will charge you an arm and/or leg to do it. Wrap it first in bubble wrap, then in heavy brown paper. Both are easy and cheap to find (Home Despot, Staples, Office Max, etc.). I don't know who your employer is, but I have always shipped via the daily pickup at my work place. Plus, because my company does so much business with UPS, we get a huge discount. If you have a shipping dept, contact them and see what is possible. If not, call UPS and find out were the local drop off center is, and take it to them. AGAIN- AVOID the UPS stores- they are a rip-off!!!!! I have never used them myself, but I have heard good things about shipping heavy items via Greyhound. Good Luck. Just my pennies, Charles. I have someone who wants to buy a '60 Chrysler rear bumper from me. Problem: How does one package and ship a bumper? It's either going to be too big or too heavy for UPS (roughly 12x12x80 and 50 pounds or so anyways) I am pretty sure. And it's not like a box for one grows on trees, I'd have to make it up from something else - maybe a refrigerator box. I have an idea on shipping some rear ends, so I should learn where I can ship stuff like this from in my area - could use some pointers though if anyone has done this before.
