Well, thanx to all, who responded to H's plight! Jim Hoekendijk mentioned that the REASON, that you shouldn't hold-down the turn signal lever, at the end of a turning-movement, is that you run the risk of breaking-off, the plastic switch-nub,......(that connects to that pot- metal "horse shoe" lever-arm, which, itself, can break, apparently, as I've seen replacement 'arms', on Ebay)..... can break-off, and when THAT happens, you are looking to buy the switch-mechanism, with its multi-wire loom, which "disappears" inside the steering column, (somewhere)....... FORTUNATELY, I just had to apply contact-cleaner, liberally, onto/into the switch (after I un-screwed it, from the 'base-assembly', which, itself screws into the steering wheel interior. My problem, yesterday, was that the 'base-assembly' "didn't" want to be pulled out, of the steering wheel 'interior, after its 2 mounting screws were removed, & I didn't want to 'force' (break) anything. The entire 'base-assembly' SHOULD come out, without messing with the 'horse shoe' lever, but, I removed the lever-arm, & then WAS able to 'induce' the base assembly to come out (I think the switch's thick/stiff wires were what was holding-back the base-assembly's removal. The actual turn-signal switch is about 1 1/2" long, but has about SIX wires attached to it. What is nice about pre-70-ish cars is that their electrical controls are really large, and "electro-mechanical", in construction , so that they can be dis-assembled, cleaned/adjusted, and re-assembled, by someone without a "computer-analyzer", and without having to replace the item, 'just-because" it's not working satisfactorily. So, once the switch got a contact-cleaning, it got re-installed, onto its 'base'-unit, and the entire enchilada was lubed & re-assembled, & the switch is as good as nuevo!!! And, so, to all, a good NITE!
