Those do not sound like factory limouines. That style was done by Superior, for exanple. The body on the 1955-56 Crown Imperial was an update of the 1949-54 LWB sedna/limous body used by Dodeg, DeSoto and Chrysler. The 1955-56 Crown Imperiasl used different door from the regular modesl,m and the extendion was actually behind the rear door. As well, the rear door was long er than the production door, wirh no 'dogleg' at the bottom rear corner. And the rear end trunk area was not shared with regular Imperial models in 1956. They used the 1955 sheet metal with little fender caps added to make a fin. I would look a little closet at the tags on the front door posts or on the firewall in the engine compartment. The style you desccribe was common in that era for airport limous and the like. Althugh not factory, they are very rare as that type of stretch was usually done on DeSotos, Chryslers, Oldsmobiles, and the like, and not on luxury cars such as he Imperial. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bill K." <pontiac@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <L-FORWARDLOOK@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, September 25, 2006 9:15 PM Subject: [FWDLK] 1956 Imperial Parade Limos > A friend of mine has picked up a couple of '56 Imperial limos, done by the > factory supposedly.
