I know this clairfies nothing, simply because its from the early
70's and I expect the rules had to have drasticly changed from 57
to then.

I used to tow our race car with my 300-C, one day at a track
event, managed by the NHRA crew, I decided to champaign the 300
as well as the race car.  The tech folks took one look under the
hood and declared "You're in Super Stock", it didnt matter one
iota that the car was pure stock, with no performance enhancing
mods evident to ANYone's naked eye over and above the standard
equiptment visible.

As such, there was no way I was competitive. I had fun
practicing, but the first blast in compitition and it were all
over for me.
