Ed Barwick, who ran a DeSoto-Plymouth dealership in Napa, CA,
had a funny story at the 1992 DeSoto National:
Seems that his small dealership could advertise they had 100+
cars available, thanx to a deal with San Fran dealer Waters which was
huge.
Well, one time, for a practical joke, someone, either at the
factory or at Waters, dropped a socket into the box frame of a 1956
DeSoto. Took the guys at Barwick's a long time to find the
rattle.

cambinations
After trying to find the rattle for a while,
it was determined that
it was in the right rear quarter. The
mechanic removed the rear
seat and trim panel and found the
bottle.
The note said, roughly,
"How long did it take you F*****'s to find
this rattle ?"
The District Factory Rep was shown this, and
he went nuts.
He got the car info and tried to find when
and where the note was
put in there, so he could find the person
who did it.
No luck.
It amused us for quite a
while...
