The unanimous choice among a field of select competitors, this rare 1938 Alfa Romeo is owned by Ray Scherr of Westlake Village, California. Regarded by collectors as one of the best sports cars of the pre-war period, the Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 Spider Touring’s engine was designed by the legendary Vittorio Jano. It was bodied by Carlo Bianchi Anderloni of Carrozzeria Touring. “This latest recognition is extremely exciting,” said Meadow Brook Concours Event Chairman Larry Smith. “Not only does it pay tribute once again to a grand automotive achievement, it underscores the fact that the Meadow Brook Concours is an event that attracts the most elite collectors.”The Meadow Brook Concours d’Elegance continues to enhance its reputation as a premier automotive celebration by adding all-new activities to its wide array of motoring events and parties. Festivities begin on Thursday, July 31, 2008, with the return of last year’s hugely successful hangar party and culminate on Concours Sunday, August 3 with the world-renowned exhibit and competition.Making an exciting debut in 2008 is Destination d’Elegance which will be held on the grounds of the grand Meadow Brook Hall. This one-of-a-kind experience will feature Bistro d’Elegance, Shoppes on the Green, and lifestyle seminars such as State of Ferrari Collecting and Italian Wine Tasting.
