Sounds like the diaphragm in the vacuum booster has developed a
rupture, in a little while the rupture will be large enough to affect
the brake power assist.
Time to order parts. The braking effort hasn't changed, but I want to prevent any future catastrophes, if possible. AFAIK, I've never overhauled the brake booster but have replaced the M/C with a dual-system. I did replace the vacuum hose, leading to the cannister, as it looked like there might have been a crack in it which may have been creating a vacuum loss, but that crack didn't go thru the hose, & the hiss iss persissting.... So, what-all do I need to buy and do, to be hiss-less?
