The Mopar power brake boosters, when mounted above the master cylinder, do not inhibit the pedal pressure to the master cylinder. So if the engine dies, or the power booster fails, the brakes are no worse than non-power brakes. You just need twice the pedal pressure to get an equal braking rate. No excuse for hitting police cars. Modern power brakes are much different. If they fail, they require the pedal pressure to flow through the booster to reach the master cylinder. The booster has a big spring which you must also compress to get braking action, so most people don't have enough strength in one leg to get much braking, unless your name is Arnold and you are the governor of California. Mopar had a better idea 50 years ago.
