Gentlemen, Kinda need everyone's opinion on this car....I know these were at the end of the FL era- the last of the Exner designs, but I can find so little about them that I don't know if it is exactly worth the trouble. It's not really what I was looking for, but it is interesting.. It's listed on craigslist of course, and it is in Indy. So- Before I make a decision and make the long trip with a car dolly...Whaddayathink?? Thanks for the input guys, Charles. -----Original Message----- From: Joshua Burdine [mailto:mtlarc2008@xxxxxxx] Sent: Sunday, March 08, 2009 8:25 PM To: 'Charles Pollock' Subject: RE: 1963 Dodge 880 rare - $750 (Franklin) The whole top end was pulled to figure out why the engine would not turn over. The previous owner discovered it was frozen and just left it in the barn. The best I know is the engine ran great before parking it. Some time later the owner went to start up and pull it outside to clean it and it would not turn over. They proceeded to take it apart and grew tired of messing with it. He is 75 years old and not in the best of health to be doing this type of job. The motor may need to be rebuild. Or I guess if it was mine to keep I would rebuild it. The car only has just under 80,000 original miles. The paint job is very shabby and needs redone. The car sets behind my shop where I work from and I live 5 minutes from there so when you want to come by either way I can be flexible. Here are more pictures to see. Everything is with the car, everything. Tooooo many times I have seen someone in an ad think that the 360 and the 361 were either the same or interchangeable. Just curious- Do you know why the heads/intake, etc were pulled? Do you know the condition of the engine? Rods? Mains? Etc. I have a couple of other cars I am looking at as well- a 61 Desoto and a 62 Newport that have to look at still before I can make a commitment to one of them, but yours definitely is the least rusty at this point. I work at night, so It is hard to schedule sometimes...but I'll see what I can do about getting up there myself. Thanks for the prompt response, Charles. Rockers have a touch of rust on driverside. No other rust I can think of. The interior is in good shape. The headliner is perfect. The only problem is the drivers edge seat in front. See picture Thanks for the FYI but I know what I have, not my first Mopar. The purpose in the 360 is to sale or trade for repairs to fix the 361 not replace it. If you want to come out and see the car you can call me at 317-412-3567 and we can make arrangements. The car is behind my shop on gravel. Prior to that it was in a barn for years. You will not be disappointed. I would not be interested in the additional motor. Just a couple of questions- How bad is the rust in this car?? Floorpans, Trunkfloor, Rockers, etc.? Do you have any additional pictures?? I am interested in seeing more of the interior if possible. Just as an FYI, the 361 is a Big Block motor- like the 383,400, or 440. Technically, it is a B engine. The 360 is a much later model A engine- or Small block, like the 340 or 318. The 318 poly engine that was produced in the same timeframe is roughly the equivalent. The bell housings, etc are completely different between the two. This includes the Poly motor as well, as it had it's own transmission entirely. You would not be able to mate the 360 to this car without changing all of the running components- IE, Trans, cables, shifter, driveshaft, engine mounts, accessories, etc. This is why I am not interested in the motor.
