After (finally) getting almost all of the "bad" gas out of my 57 Dodge and
throwing a can of some fresh new tasty gas in, I discovered that my fuel
pump (I'm guessing its the pump) appears to be leaking from somewhere. This
mysterious leak appears only when cranking the engine (I would assume also
if engine is running). I have been unable to determine where exactly the
pump is leaking from as I discovered it this evening and pretty much called
it a night at that point (I'm also one person and have trouble being at the
front of the engine and in the car turning the key at the same time). It
seems that the fuel is running down the front of the engine block and frame
and onto the ground so its shooting out of that side.
Does this sound like a common occurence or if I had someone crank the engine for me might I find fuel shooting out of a fuel line somewhere? Gas still has no trouble making it to the fuel filter bowl. I would have done more investigation, but it was dark outside and working by Mag Lite gets annoying. I'm guessing pump removal is in my future, but before I tear into it figure I should get some advice.
