Dang if I could remember either although I thought the Plaza was the “low” line car.
I did a bit of searching the allpar.com site on the 57 Plymouths and found the Savoy was indeed the mid line and Plaza the low line.
But the trim often depended on if the car was two toned on a single color. Even the single color Belvedere’s only had a single piece of trim, the upper one as used on the two toned cars, going from front to back. So a Savoy single color Savoy with its small amount trim could look cheaper than a tow toned Plaza.
My only 57 was a Belvedere two door hardtop, yellow with black roof and side trim insert. The other color was the rusty hue above the headlights and on the rockers as I live in winter-salt-rich Milwaukee.
Nice car really except it would not start at any temp below about 10 ᵒ F. I know now that it probably had gummed up compression rings and likely had little if any cold crank compression, a problem I ran across with VW Diesels that would not start when cold no matter how well the glow plugs worked. My 57 had pretty high mileage when I purchased it in late 1962. It h ad a heavy duty starter and the biggest battery that could be wedged into place and when it was that cold if would crank (and crank fast) for over 20 + minutes with no problems, another sign of poor cold compression.
It had the 301 V-8 and Powerflite. A fried had a 57 Ford Fairlane two door hardtop, yellow and white, with the 272 and Ford-O-Matic. Anytime we ended up at the same red light the race was on and we would consistently run side-by-side until we were going way too fast for city streets when I would slightly pull ahead, likely due to my somewhat larger motor.
Ah yes, the good old days ……..

My parents owned a 57 Custom Suburban and it had just the one piece of chrome going the length of the car. As you mentioned, the Sport Suburban had the Sportone with the two pieces of chrome going the length of the car. My Deluxe Suburban two door wagon had no chrome at all, but in those days you probably could have special ordered some trim, although I happened to like mine plain. That looks like Plaza trim on the two door wagon in the brochure picture. Wasn't the Plaza a fancier model than the Savoy, or the other way around? I had a 57 Savoy four door hardtop that was highly optioned and I recall it having the Plaza trim, too. I need to dig out some of my old pictures.
