ALSO....discovered that a failing water pump (mine expired suddenly, puking  its coolant in the typical
manner, on the pavement).....may (-will?) produce some 'abnormal' operational  noises...like Dave
mentions, above...BEFORE the coolant leakage occurs.

I didn't pay (enough) attention to the water pump's imminent failure noises
(seem to recall hearing 'clicking' noises(?) from the front-area of the car), during
the several days prior to the pump's puking its coolant.

Trouble is, the engine and cooling fan are running, so it's hard to isolate the water pump's
dying sounds from the engine's normal noises.

However, AFTER the water pump's removal and replacement, the engine's operational noises
essentially became noise-LESS....amazingly-so (and after I had, also, previously replaced the
the OEM fan belt, with its whang-whang-whang operational noises).

Immediately recalled the 1957 Dodge TV ad, where a microphone was mounted in the
middle of the interior, and, also, behind a front wheel, recording road noises.

The exterior sounds were almost completely eliminated, inside the car.

After experiencing the quietness of the post-water-pump's  replacement, I finally
accept that TV ad's assertion about the overall quietness of the entire car!

The impeller is just a little bit stiffer than the 'replacement' water

"Nobody" checks the operation of the water pump, right???

Mine looks like its been leaking for a while....but, EYE first noticed a

problem

when the pump started, ACTIVELY,  to leak all over the pavement, at the

end of a

long cruise-around this area.

No way to test a water pump's current-operational condition, right [?]
