I've left my club roster at the office and need to give Andy Mikonis a
call.
Anyone have his number handy?
Thanks,
Matt Allyn

I agree. Great story that needs to go in the Newsletter, eventually. By
that time you can probably come up with some other events in the car's
life.

What is the best way to install the damper on the crank, when you don't
have the special Mopar install tool?
Thanks,
Matt Allyn

Hi Matt,
Does Orchard Supply Hardware still have 3/4-16 threaded rod? I
haven't been near one since I moved from Sunnyvale to the middle of
nowhere,
but I hear they have gone to the dogs since Sears took them over. Anyway,
go look.
Somewhere, buy a 3 foot length of that rod and some 3/4-16 nuts
and
3/4 washers. Thread the rod into the end of the crankshaft and use the
washer and a nut to pull the damper onto the crankshaft. I cut off a
length
of that rod in my lathe and locked together two nuts on the end to make a
more convenient length, but you could get by with the whole rod or use a
hacksaw. Be sure to oil the crankshaft and inside the damper -- Mobil 1
15/50 works fine. Which is what the engine has had in it since it was
rebuilt.

Hi Matt,
Hey, while you are in OSH ( if you go in OSH ) please look and see
if they still have Vermont-American ( or anybody else's ) taps in the big
sizes like 3/4-16 and especially in taper grind for me. You know, taps
are
available in "plug" ( the most common one where there is about a 4 or 5
thread taper on the lead taper section ), "taper" ( where the lead taper
is
more like ten threads ), and "bottoming" ( used to cut threads all the way
to the bottom of a non-through hole - where the lead taper section is only
about one or two threads long ). I'm not talking about NPT pipe thread
taper taps, I'm talking about machine screw threads.
Thanks in advance, nobody has them around here and I wanted to
know
if I could order them from somebody where I could get them in "one"
quantities instead of package lots of 6 like Rutland sells them. ( If
there's anything I don't need it's six 3/4-16 taps at 30 bucks a piece!!
And so on for every size coarse and fine thread from half inch to one inch
at that price!! ;o)
